ICEC Alumni Reunion February 3rd

Join us to Celebrate Over 60 Years of Educating

For more than 60 years Iowa Conservation Education Council (Coalition) has been instrumental in making a difference to the state of Iowa’s environment and environmental education.

What cool stuff has ICEC done?

  • Promoted the construction of the Springbrook Conservation Education Center where many thousands of youth and adults have learned about Iowa’s natural resources.
  • Provided leadership in developing statewide plans for environmental education through the Iowa’s Governor’s Conferences that served to guide EE efforts for 20 years.
  • Served as the statewide go-to contact for environmental education for EPA and other state and federal agencies
  • Created numerous written resources for Iowa’s teachers on Iowa’s natural resources and EE techniques.
  • Planned and conducted hundreds of teacher workshops and conferences at various locations in Iowa, including summer, fall, and winter workshops and Midwest EE Conferences.
  • Partnered with Iowa’s regents Universities and private colleges to provide classes for pre-service teachers.
  • Served in the passage of REAP through communication and educational efforts.
  • Served as a member of the REAP-Conservation Education Act Board to distribute more that $9 million  in grants to local schools, educators, and communities for conservation education efforts.

Join us in honoring the achievements of ICEC and those who have contributed to it, by attending a Reunion at this year’s ICEC Conference or Winter Workshop on Friday, February 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Conservation Education Center, Springbrook State Park, 2473 160th Rd, Guthrie Center, IA 50115.  If you have been past board member, workshop facilitator, or member, or contributed to ICEC in any way, please join us!  Please pass this on to others that you know have been involved and ask them to do the same.  The more, the merrier this reunion will be!
