Position: Training Specialist 2
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Conservation Education Specialist (Training Specialist 2). This position coordinates angler education, conservation education, and outdoor skills-based programs across the state and creates and revises curricula and instructional materials for these programs. The Conservation Education Specialist plans, organizes, and conducts statewide formal and informal educator training and programming with focus on alignment with statewide initiatives and standards. This position will ensure that DNR programming is available and applicable for multiple subject areas (STREAM – Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and is differentiated for various grade levels. The Conservation Education Specialist supports collaborative angler recruitment and retention efforts in Iowa by developing local community leader capacity for planning, promoting, and implementing sustainable family/community-based fishing initiatives.

Location: The position may work at one of the following locations: DNR Headquarters (Des Moines), Fairport Fish Hatchery (Fairport), Lake Darling State Park (Brighton), Manchester Fish Hatchery (Manchester), Big Spring Fish Hatchery (Elkader), Cold Springs State Park (Lewis), or the Chariton Research Station (Chariton)
Hours: Varied work schedule with some evenings and weekends required. This position requires regular in-state travel with some overnights as needed.
