ICEC’s Resource Enhancement and Protection – Conservation Education Program (REAP-CEP) grant-funded project “Connecting to Iowa Core: Authentic Iowa Wildlife and Natural Resources Data for the Classroom” is designed to enhance educators’ ability to address Iowa Core Science Standards and connect students to real-world, local conservation science and research. In partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, ICEC has prepared data, lesson plans, and resources for use at a 6-12 grade level.
A subsequent REAP-CEP grant, “Connecting to the Iowa Core: Authentic Data Training,” expanded upon the first grant by offering training (Winter Workshop, “Iowa’s Phenomenal Natural Resources”), developing online training, and providing additional support materials. This work also expanded the audience to Preschool through 5th grade.
